MARKETING ROUNDTABLE FEATURES ETHICS AS A COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGE
At the Marketing Roundtable on the DU Campus Friday, February 17, keynote speaker, Dr. Daniel Sweeney, Director of the Institute for Enterprise Ethics presented “Ethic as a Competitive Advantage.” Following his presentation John Van Heuvelen, Audit Chair MasTec Hallador Energy, and Salman Adil, Blue Sun Energy, presented case histories of business ethics in which they had been involved.
Sweeney defined “competitive ethics” and how you can support and nurture good business activities and behavior in your leadership role. Engage fully in the reality of balancing the pressure of results with a company’s ethical standards and understand the sources of this pressure on executives and reporting managers. Ultimately, doing “good business” means succeeding in corporate ethics, social responsibility, and sustainability in the context of effective business strategy. Both VanHeuvelen and Adil detailed how they built ethics into the companies with which they worked.
